Since 1982, the Melbourne Fringe Festival is Melbourne’s longest-running and most popular arts festival has supported and presented some 50,000 artists to more than 2,000,000 people at hundreds of venues across Melbourne and Victoria. In 2008, audiences in excess of 500,000 enjoyed the work of some 4,500 artists at over 100 venues.
Across almost 30 years, the Festival has grown enormously and robustly. Melbourne Fringe is committed to keeping our Festival program fresh and contemporary, whilst at the same time establishing and maintaining significant links into regional and outer suburban Victoria, with artists and artsworkers taking advantage of our development and training support, and then performing and working within their own communities.
